More Details:

Who am I?

I am an experienced paramedic leader, education leader, curriculum developer, educator, and researcher focused on engaging adult learners with data-driven strategies.  Wow, that’s a big statement!

Where am I coming from?

I began my career as a Paramedic training in North Conway, New Hampshire before returning to Ontario in 1994.  Working as a Paramedic in Northern Ontario, I proudly served the communities of Nipigon, Shuniah, Armstrong, and Thunder Bay before moving to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island to complete my Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) training.

While working in the City of Halifax as an ACP, I was recruited by Canadian Helicopters EMS (Air Ambulance) where I started with helicopter based in Moosonee, Ontario before moving and settling in London, Ontario.  Trained as a Critical Care Flight Paramedic, I dedicated myself to patient care and continue to work as a Paramedic for almost 30 years.

Drawn to education and technology early, I taught organizations and individuals across Northern and Central America utilizing compelling and innovative methods.  After discovering that jumping out of helicopters no longer challenged me I transitioned head-first into adult education and eLearning Technologies.  I currently serve as a Learning Designer and Learning & Development Specialist with training groups across Canada. I have had the opportunity to develop curriculum and training programs for the Ontario Ministry of Health CBRNe initiative, Canadian and American government agencies, authored textbook chapters, and have been a leader for several high stakes projects.

I work well independently and maintain a high level of accountability.  A strong leader and team player, I create positive relationships with all members of the team. I love to share my knowledge with others and specialize in educating others around eLearning Technologies and increasing student engagement with technology, both in-person and online.

Anything else?

During my downtime, you will find me completing work for my graduate program, with my family camping, sailing, or reading.  I hope that someone soon will develop a method to safely sleep less and play more.  I feel it’s important to know that I hate referring to myself in the third person and am not a big fan of Brussels sprouts…

Thanks for making it through that long-winded biography.   I hope you enjoy this blog.

Find me on Social Media and let’s continue the dialogue to effect positive change. @DuggSteary
